What a journey! Part 1
Well, we are on the West coast now. This week we intend to actually go to the beach, so we can say that we hit both coasts this summer ( : We've already had a few adventures along the way. Getting out the door on moving day was much more difficult than we had planned, of course. We left hours later than we had planned, due to the travails of trying to clean house for clearing while watching 4 children. We paid for a cleaning service, but still had to do a '____ clean. Yeah, right. It felt so good to finally get in the car and start moving, but we didn't get to say goodbye to Mary ) : and as we were leaving, we kept on finding random little things the movers had missed. So, our car was stuffed to the gills not only with children, a cat and supplies, luggage, snacks, bedding and entertainment, but also random things like a bamboo bowl, rug, salt and pepper shakers, a swing set bar, etc. We made it as far as St. Joseph Missouri that evening before calling it a night. The hotel charged like highway robbery- just a Super 8 with a lame breakfast but they saw the kids and made us get two rooms, so John and I had to separate. Lovely. Then they had a difficult time sending in the fax that the realtor had requested the day before. No love was lost when we left that place the next morning. We drove through Nebraska on Thursday, making it to Cheyenne before calling it a night. The drive actually wasn't as bad as I had anticipated- thank goodness! To be continued. . .
