John had been attending the Charles County Archeological Society meetings for a number of months now, and has taken the boys to a few of the meetings. They have actually been really well behaved and interested (at the meetings at least, wish they were always that super at home!) so he was delighted to hear of an upcoming dig recently. He made sure he had the morning off at Chick Fil A, and took the boys down to a site where archeologists were working to find the remains of a Jesuit chapel from hundreds of years ago. John and the boys thoroughly enjoyed it, although apparently some of the men there were "characters". John tried to keep the boys away from their language ( ; The boys found a nail and an Native stone tool, used archeology tools and posed with the Dr. in charge of the expedition. They only had to dig down about 6 inches, rather than the expected 24, so I guess it was a good day all in all. I'm so glad that John was able to take the time and effort to share something like this with the boys, I think they'll remember it for a long time to come!
