Well, our trip was wonderful, but it is sooo nice to be home again! Think Dorothy in her red shoes, whispering "There's no place like home, there's no place like home". Getting home was certainly an adventure. We missed an enormous amount of yucky weather here in MO, but were unfortunate enough to be stalled by it on our plane voyage back. Our flight from Sacramento to Dallas was fine, and we made it to our connecting flight without any trouble. However, after sitting at our gate for about an hour the airline folks announced that the flight was canceled! Ick. So, long story short, we spent hours trying to get on a flight together. We were able to arrange something for Friday. Thank goodness for the USO, helpful flight attendajts who slipped us a bag of food and drinks, and an emergency fund. We had a not so exciting time finding a hotel, HOTELS.COM made a major mistake and booked us with a hotel 40 miles from the airport. So we got in the super expensive airport taxi and realized we didn't want to pay $100 + for a taxi ride, especially since we were lacking Sophia's car seat. We got lucky and Drury Inns had rooms available. I cannot say enough good things about that place! They were so nice and reasonably priced. They had a 'managers reception' in the evening that was dinner for us, consisting of chicken strips, baked potatoes, carrot sticks, salad and chips. This was all free. Then they had an awesome hot breakfast, free long distance and a shuttle to the airport. They even took me to Walmart so I could pick up some diapers. And, icing on the cake, they don't show any pay per view adult movies. Good for them! We give them five stars and a high recommendation. Friday was a LONG day, with going through security again ( I hate security) and two flights. There was a long delay, our stroller was lost and then found ( causing a great deal of panic ) and 2 bags were lost (and are now found). We didn't pull into our drive until 12:23 am Saturday morning. I feel like I am still recovering from all that travel!

WOW! What a trip!! I'm glad you got back and all your stuff made it. I also love the new blog background! When does John's contract end?
Mid-June 2009
We are hoping to maybe get out with leave in May ( :
We love the Drury Inn as well! We have stayed there several times and love it! Usually in the evening the have free popcorn & soda! We love that too! Sounds like quite the travel adventure, we are glad to have you home!
That would be nice! What would you do after that?
We are still ironing out details, but John would like to get certified to teach in CA (probably High school level), and also teach at the community college adjunct (part-time) to get his foot in the door there. We have been looking at homes in Fresno and hopefully once we get a job offer, we can purchase a home! We are loving our time here, but it will also be exciting ( and scary ) to move on to a different adventure in our lives.
