Well, there are a million things to blog about, of course. We still should blog about more of our move and grand journey, but John and I have decided to subscribe to the belief that we're not sure we WANT to remember all of that. We loved seeing our families, but could have lived without all of the stress, LONG hours in the car, stomach virus, and other icky moments. So, perhaps we'll share more info and pictures at some point, and perhaps not. Frankly, our time is so limited now with settling in, church activities, preparing for a new homeschool year, and music lessons for me. We really do love it here though- which is why I'm blogging tonight.
We went to DC today for a day trip and had a great time. Our definitions of a successful trip have changed a great deal since we were here 5 years ago ( ; There were some crazy moments, but all in all the children were super, and seemed to enjoy themselves. The day was gorgeous, a lovely day for July. We went to Eastern Market, a bi farmers market, fresh food, flea market bazaar close to the Capitol and had a yummy brunch. We browsed just a bit (not much with 4 bored little ones!) and then walked, past the Capitol and the Library of Congress (I have a picture from each) to the National Gallery of Art. We enjoyed looking at some Monet works, as pictured, and then viewed a wonderful exhibit on royal Spanish Armor. It was pretty interesting, and the boys liked it. Afterwards we enjoyed some gelato downstairs- delicious! The kids were exhausted, but enjoyed the metro ride back to the car, as you can see. What a fun day! It was nice to get into the city and enjoy some of what it has to offer, even though there is always something to be done at home. Enjoy the pictures!
